Working Together for Every Child, Every Day
The mission of Beasley Elementary is to provide a safe, caring and collaborative school community where students become lifelong learners and citizens of character.
History
Beasley was built in the 1960s on grounds that were originally part of the Veterans Administration Hospital and Jefferson Barracks. In 1995, a nine-room addition was constructed that included a computer lab, art room and music room.
“Nestled between woods, the national cemetery and the Veterans Administration Hospital, the campus is probably one of the prettiest in St. Louis County,” said Jim Schibig, principal from 1986 to 2001.
Beasley Elementary School is named after Dr. Charles Beasley. Dr. Beasley was a medical doctor who helped negotiate the Mehlville School District’s acquisition of the land for Beasley Elementary School. Dr. Beasley served in the Medical Corps during both World War I and World War II and was director of the VA Hospital at Jefferson Barracks.
