Beasley Elementary School was awarded $3786 through the Fuel Up to Play 60 program that encourages students to eat healthy, be active and implement positive changes in their schools and communities.
Image: Some of the funds received as part of the grant were used to purchase two new basketball goals and supplies to build a gaga pit for students.
Fuel up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council, Midwest Dairy and the NFL in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture. Beasley Elementary was selected from among hundreds of schools across the country that applied for funding to help us incorporate sustainable health and wellness improvements in our school and community. Funding for this competitive program is provided by Midwest Dairy.

Some of the funds were used to purchase a refrigeration cooler for the school cafeteria that allows students to easily see the milk and other items that are available to them. Other funds were used to purchase two smaller basketball hoops for younger students and supplies to build a gaga pit on the blacktop for students to use. Gaga ball is a dodgeball-like game played in an octagon.
