Sara HermannThe Mehlville Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of Sara Hermann as the Mehlville School District Social Studies Director for the 2023-2024 school year.

Hermann is currently an elementary instructional coach for the district, a role she’s held for the past three years. Prior to that she taught at Wohlwend and Blades elementary schools. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Fontbonne University. She’s also received a master’s degree in reading and a master’s degree in teaching english as a second language from Webster University.

"Ms. Hermann’s experience as an instructional coach and as a professional development leader will help our district throughout all grade levels," said Dr. Brian Smith, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning. "Sara's background in literacy and EL will also translate to helping all learners and helping the teachers who support our students. Sara will assist our Social Studies, Physical Education and World Language teams in their overall continued improvement."

“I feel extremely lucky to have been serving Mehlville for the last 13 years as it has expanded in diversity and our approach in education,” Hermann said. “My experiences and my mentors in Mehlville have afforded me the opportunity to learn and grow as an educator and a leader. I'm very much looking forward to supporting teachers and students in our district in a larger capacity as the Director of Social Studies, PE and World Languages.”
